Ukraine sees 26 percent drop in ferroalloy imports in May over April

In May 2010, Ukraine's imports of ferroalloys went down by 26 percent to 5,100 mt compared to April and by 65.1 percent compared to May 2009.

Specifically, in May this year, the country's imports of ferrosilicomanganese increased by 3.3 percent to 2,520 mt, of which 1,290 mt were imported from Georgia, its imports of ferromanganese went down by 38.1 percent to 650 mt, with 290 mt imported from Netherlands, and its ferrosilicon imports decreased by 87.3 percent to 80 mt, with 70 mt being imported from Russia, all compared to April.

The value of the country's ferroalloy imports in May decreased by 11.9 percent or $2.19 million month on month to $16.24 million.

Meanwhile, in January-May this year, Ukraine imported 42,360 mt of ferroalloys - down 11.3 percent compared to the same period last year.
