Ukraine reduces coking coal production in Jan-Nov 2008

According to the preliminary data issued by the Ukrainian Coal Ministry, in the first eleven months of 2008, the country increased its coal production by 3.5 percent year on year to 71.456 million mt, while its coking coal production registered a decrease of 4.4 percent to 24.971 million mt, compared with the same period last year.

Ukraine's coking coal production in November 2008 amounted to 1.963 million mt - down 19.4 percent year on year.

Accordingly, in 2007 the coking coal production in Ukraine decreased by 5.8 percent compared with 28.396 million mt in 2006.
