Ukraine expected to produce 2.6 million mt of crude steel in August

In August this year, Ukraine's crude steel production is expected to increase by 3.2 percent compared to the anticipated July result to 2.6 million mt, according to the Ukrainian association of metal producers Metallurgprom.

According to Metallurgprom's forecast, pig iron output in Ukraine will total 2.550 million mt in August, up 3.2 percent compared to July, while Ukrainian production of rolled steel is expected to total 2.350 million mt, up 4.4 percent compared to July.

In August, domestic steelmakers will need 660,000 mt of sintering ore, 1.850 million mt of iron ore concentrate, 440,000 mt of agglomerate, 695,000 mt of iron ore pellets, 965,000 mt of limestone, 1.240 million mt of metallurgical coke and 350,000 mt of steel scrap in order to ensure the planned volumes of production in the given month.
