Turkey’s slab imports up by 33.4 percent in January-October

In October this year, Turkey’s slab imports amounted to 332,488 metric tons, down by 1.2 percent compared to September and up by 34.2 percent year on year, according to the preliminary data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). Meanwhile, the revenue generated by these imports totaled $167.73 million, decreasing by 1.7 percent compared to the previous month and increasing by 26.7 percent year on year.

In the January-October period, Turkey's slab imports amounted to 3,053,733 mt, up 33.4 percent, while the value of these imports grew by 24.6 percent to $1.66 billion, both year on year.

In the given period, Turkey’s largest slab import source was Russia, which supplied 1,198,660 mt. Russia was followed by Malaysia with 1,110,240 mt and Indonesia with 260,382 mt.
