According to the statistics released by the Istanbul Mineral and Metals Exporters' Association (IMMIB), in August Turkey's total wire rod exports amounted to 103,450 metric tons, increasing by 12.17 percent month on month, and up 34.65 percent year on year. Meanwhile, the revenue generated by these exports totaled $47.34 million, down 46.74 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, and up 13.65 percent over July this year.
In August, the average export price of Turkish wire rod amounted to $458/mt, up $6/mt or 1.32 percent from July levels, but indicating a decrease of $700/mt or 60.44 percent from $1,156/mt in August 2008.
On the other hand, in the January-August period of the current year, Turkey's wire rod exports surged five percent year on year to 667,700 mt, totalling a value of $302.1 million, down 45.62 percent compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
