In February this year, Turkey's pig iron imports amounted to 83,700 mt, up 5.9 percent year on year, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The total value of Turkey's pig iron imports in the given month increased by 21.5 percent year on year to $30.9 million.
In the first two months of the current year, Turkey's pig iron imports increased by 85.7 percent to 266,279 mt, while the revenue from these imports amounted to $100.3 million, up 122.2 percent, both year on year.
In the January-February period, Turkey imported 161,981 metric tons of pig iron from Russia, up 132.23 percent year on year. Russia ranked first among Turkey's pig iron import sources in the period in question, followed by Ukraine which supplied 82,272 mt, up 49.22 percent year on year.
