MMZ Onur Boru Profil, one of Turkey's leading pipe and section producers, will add an additional 100,000 mt/year of piling sheet and non-welded hollow section capacity to its current annual production capacity of 200,000 mt of pipes and sections as of November of the current year, thus boosting its overall annual production capacity to the level of 300,000 mt.
SteelOrbis has learned from MMZ Onur Boru Profil that the company's new capacity investments are being implemented at its Akcakoca facilities in northwestern Turkey.
In addition to its capacity expansion investments, the company has also made some additions and modifications in its current lines, thus expanding its product range significantly. Accordingly, MMZ Onur Boru Profil will maintain its ERW pipe production in 21.3-273 mm diameter, whereas it will now be able to produce square hollow sections of up to 400 x 400 x 12 mm size and rectangular hollow sections of up to 500 x 300 x 12 mm size. MMZ Onur Boru Profil is also able to manufacture products in special sizes according to customer needs, and, as regards non-welded hollow sections, it can form sheets in a strip width of up to 1,500 mm. The company can also produce new custom-made designs for piling sheets and complies with an elastic section modulus.
MMZ Onur Boru Profil sources 50 percent of its requirements in HRC, its main feedstock, from Russia, Ukraine and Europe, while it buys the remaining 50 percent from the domestic market. Meanwhile, the company exports around 70 percent of its total output to the EU countries, Russia, Israel and the US.
Piling sheets, the company's new addition to its production mix, are used in water resistant barriers, controlling and orienting subterranean waters, building permanent walls, safety walls, retaining walls for floods and landslides, shore protection, earth support in tunnel excavations and load-bearing walls in wharf constructions. They also comply with the EN 10249 production standards.
