In April this year, Turkey's iron ore imports totaled 775,955 metric tons, increasing by 46.2 percent compared to March, but down 11.5 percent year on year, while the value of these imports amounted to $112.31 million, up 44.28 percent month on month and decreasing by 14.41 percent year on year, according to the statistics provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK).
Meanwhile, in the first four months of the current year, Turkey's iron ore imports increased by 16.48 percent to 2.72 million metric tons, while the value of these imports totaled $397.29 million, up 20.16 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
In the first four months of this year, Turkey's iron ore imports from Brazil decreased by 7.58 percent year on year to 846,365 metric tons. Brazil was followed by Sweden which supplied 745,186 metric tons, up 46.64 percent year on year, while Turkey's iron ore imports from Finland in the given period amounted to 344,664 metric tons. Meanwhile, in April alone, Turkey's top iron ore source was Sweden with 414,184 metric tons.
