In March this year, Turkey's cold rolled coil imports totaled 67,499 metric tons, increasing by 57.63 percent compared to the same month of 2013 and up 7.91 percent month on month, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports was $46.09 million, increasing by 53.37 percent year on year and up 7.09 percent month on month.
Meanwhile, in the first quarter of this year, Turkey's CR coil imports increased by 39.93 percent to 194,639 metric tons, while the value of these imports totaled $133.80 million, up 36.85 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
In the first quarter of the current year, Russia ranked first among Turkey's CR coil import sources, supplying 69,561 metric tons, down 7.44 percent year on year. Meanwhile, in the given period, Turkey's CR coil imports from Ukraine surged to 42,726 metric tons, compared to 9,420 metric tons in January-March 2013.
