Turkey launches safeguard investigation on certain steel products

According to a statement from the Turkish Ministry of Economy, Turkey has launched a safeguard investigation on imports of certain steel products to determine if these imports harm or threaten to harm domestic steel producers.

Products subject to the investigation include certain flat, long, pipe and hollow sections, railway and tram line components and stainless flat steel products. The product scope of the investigation may change pertaining to information collected during the investigation period. Imports originating from the European Union will be exempt from the investigation.

The safeguard investigation will take nine months and the deadline can be extended by six months if deemed necessary.

Products subject to the investigation currently fall under Customs Tariff Statistics Position Numbers 7208, 7209, 7210, 7211, 7212, 7225, 7226, 7213, 7214, 7215, 7216, 7217, 7227, 7228, 7302, 7303, 7304, 7305, 7306, 7319 and 7320.
