TISCO’s G blast furnace achieves record production

Indian steel producer Tata Iron and Steel Corp's (TISCO) ’G' blast furnace has achieved a record production of hot metal with 14 million tons. The furnace, which was commissioned on November 18, 1992, had an annual production capacity of 1 million tons of hot metal. However, the furnace has produced 14 million tons of hot metal in 12 years of operation. The G blast furnace would be closed in mid-October for relining and revamp however the closure is postponed till December. The blast furnace is planned to be upgraded in 100 days. After the upgradation, its capacity will increase to 1.8 million tons per annum.
