Thailand’s scrap imports in July

According to provisional customs data, Thailand imported 878,655 mt of steel scrap in the first seven months of 2018. In H1 2018, Thailand imported 779,298 mt of steel scrap, thereby, importing 99,357 mt in July.

In the first seven months, Thailand imported 239,590 mt from the US (27 percent), 121,863 mt from Myanmar (14 percent), 64,065 mt from Australia (7 percent), 46,638 mt from the Caribbean (primarily Trinidad and Tobago) (5 percent), 43,905 mt from the UK (5 percent), and 362,594 mt (41 percent) from various countries including South Africa, New Zealand, Japan, Panama, and others.
