Tenova to supply new EAF to POSCO

Italy-based Tenova, a Techint Group company specialized in innovative solutions for the metals and mining industries, has announced that it will supply electric arc furnace Consteel® technology to South Korean steelmaker Pohang Iron and Steel Co. (POSCO) for the latter’s Gwangyang plant.

The new EAF with a tapping capacity of 280 tons of liquid steel is scheduled to enter production by the end of 2025.

The furnace, which will be designed to match the needs of quality, productivity and efficiency, and will be equipped with enhanced safety solutions, will contribute to the company’s decarbonization targets.
