The Italian equipment producer Tenova has announced that it has successfully commissioned a new 360 mt of steel per hour Consteel® system in Japan at Tokyo Steel's new steel plant in Tahara, which is going to produce 2.5 million mt of quality steel per year.

Accordingly, this is Tenova's 20th Consteel® installed in Asia and is the highest capacity Consteel® installed in the world.

The new giant Consteel® system has been coupled with an electric arc furnace of 300 mt nominal tapping capacity and 420 mt total capacity.

Thanks to the continuous scrap feeding and preheating Consteel® technology, Tokyo Steel will be able to produce high quality flat steel with an extremely low electric consumption and achieve significant environmental advantages compared to a traditional top-charge furnace.
