Tata Steel subsidiary TCIL commences expansion project

Tinplate Company India Limited (TCIL), a subsidiary of Indian steel producer Tata Steel has commenced an expansion project entailing an estimated investment of $244 million at its plant located in the eastern state of Jharkhand, a company statement said on Tuesday, April 4.

The company said that the capacity of the plant will increase to 715,000 mt per year from 415,000 mt on completion of the project in 2026. 

According to the statement, the upcoming facilities will have state-of-the art technology and higher levels of automation to cater to domestic and export markets, to minimise man-machine interface and to enhance safety aspects, and they are designed to meet EU environmental norms.
