Taiwan’s largest steelmaker China Steel Corporation (CSC) has announced its preliminary financial results for the first two months this year.

In February, the company’s carbon steel sales volume totaled 579,771 mt, while in the January-February period its carbon steel sales volume amounted to 1.17 million mt.

In the January-February period, CSC’s operating revenues amounted to NTD 50.54 billion ($1.57 billion), decreasing by 6.2 percent year on year, while it recorded an operating loss at NTD 322.91 million ($10.06 million), compared to an operating profit of NTD 995.41 million recorded in the same period last year. The operating revenues decreased and the operating loss increased due to the decrease in unit gross profit of the steel department.
