Taiwan to control wire rod shipments from China
Taiwan's Bureau of Foreign Trade (BFT) has announced that it will carry out official controls on wire rod shipments from China effective as of October 1, 2006. In line with the new regulation, Taiwanese buyers, who order wire rod from China after October 1, 2006, are required to apply to the BFT for clearance. Sources report that Shagang, one of China's largest wire rod exporters, is waiting for its Taiwanese customers to get the required approval for their wire rod orders. Taiwan started allowing free deliveries of wire rod from China as of April 1, 2005. The regulation was originally put into effect for just a six-month period but remained in force until now.
