Chinese plantmaker China 19th Metallurgical Corporation, a subsidiary of state-owned China Metallurgical Group Corp., has announced that it has won a tender to carry out the upgrading project of the stainless steel rolling mill of Shandong Province-based Chinese steelmaker Shandong Taishan Iron and Steel Group. Work on the project will start in September this year and will be completed within nine-and-a-half months.

The stainless steel rolling facility in question, on which construction was completed in July 2008, has an annual output capacity of 800,000 mt.

The upgraded rolling facility will include two walking beam-type heating furnaces, a roughing mill, a drum-type flying shears, one steckel finishing mill as well as other finishing mills, a new reinforced laminar cooling system and two coilers.
