At a recent shareholders meeting, Li Cheng, the managing president of Chinese stainless steel producer Taigang Stainless Steel Co., Ltd, stated that, in the context of the recovering global economy, demand for stainless steel products has been improving in both the domestic and international markets.

Meanwhile, Mr. Li also remarked that in the first half of 2010 China's import volume of stainless steel was 580,000 mt, while the export volume reached 680,000 mt, thereby making China a net exporter of stainless steel for the period in question.

Mr. Li added that, due to the rising trend of nickel prices and the growing demand level, stainless steel prices have been increasing in the recent period.
