Swedish crude steel output maintains downtrend in Nov

According to the latest data released by the Swedish Steel Producers' Association (Jernkontoret), in November this year Swedish crude steel production amounted to 344,300 metric tons, decreasing slightly by 0.3 percent year on year, and indicating a month-on-month decrease of 3.75 percent. The country's crude steel output has been declining on year-on-year basis since June 2011.

In the first 11 months of 2012, Swedish crude steel production totaled 4 million mt, with a decrease of 10.7 percent compared to the same period of 2011.

Meanwhile, in the first nine months of this year Sweden's exports of finished steel, including blooms and billets, amounted to 2.7 million mt, down nine percent compared to the same period of 2011. Swedish finished steel imports in the first nine months totaled 2.67 million mt, down eight percent compared to the same period of 2011.
