SMS Siemag to supply two annealing lines to China’s Panzhihua Steel

Chinese steelmaker Panzhihua Iron and Steel Group Co. (Panzhihua Steel) has ordered two continuous annealing lines for its new works in Xichang in the southwestern Chinese province of Sichuan from Germany-based plantmaker SMS Siemag.
 
The new annealing lines will produce over 1.7 million mt of high-quality steel strips per year for the automotive and electrical appliances industries. The lines are scheduled to start operation at the end of 2013.
 
Line No. 1 is designed for strips with a gage of 0.35 to 2.0 mm and widths ranging from 870 to 1,870 mm, with an annual capacity of 923,600 mt. Line No. 2 is designed for strips with gauges from 0.3 to 2.5 mm and widths between 870 and 1,620 mm, with an annual capacity of 816,800 mt.
