SMS Group stated that each unit will have a processing capacity of 130 mt of coke per hour. The units will serve the new stamp charge coke oven batteries Nos. 13 and 14 at SAIL’s IISCO facility. The project forms a key component of Steel Authority of India Limited’s crude steel expansion plan, targeting a capacity of 4.8 million mt per year at the Burnpur site.

According to the plantmaker, the project will be executed on a discrete turnkey basis. The scope includes design, engineering, supply, installation, commissioning, electrics and automation, digitalization, and related services.

According to SMS Group, the contract represents a significant step in Steel Authority of India Limited’s modernization program at its IISCO plant, while also reinforcing the long-term collaboration between the plantmaker and the steel producer.
