SISCOL to expand its production capacity

Indian steel producer Southern Iron and Steel Company (SISCOL) has recently announced that it plans to expand its annual production capacity to 1 million tons by December 2006. The company plans to invest Rupees 5.8 billion ($132.1 million) in the project, which will be materialized in two phases. In the first phase of the project, capacity of the company will be increased from 200'000 tons to 600'000 tons by March 2006 with an investment of Rupees 4 billion ($91.1 million). In the second phase of the project, the remaining Rupees 1.8 billion ($41 million) will be spent to increase the capacity by 400'000 tons to 1 million tons by December 2006.
