Siemens to modernize hot strip mill for Salzgitter Flachstahl

Siemens Industrial Solutions and Services Group (I&S) has announced that it has received an order from Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH, the largest steel subsidiary of the German Salzgitter Group, to supply the new main drives and the associated automatic control technology for the company's hot strip mill.

The total value of the order is approximately €29 million ($41 million). According to the deal, Siemens will supply, install and commission drive systems in five stages beginning in spring 2009.
