Sichuan Province to increase coal output capacity by 9 million mt in 2012

In the second half of this year, China's Sichuan Province plans to achieve a coal output of 45 million mt, as stated by the province's Economy and Information Commission.
 
The Sichuan provincial authorities have also stated they expect to complete an investment of RMB 4 billion ($631 million) in technology upgrades in the local coal industry, aiming to increase coal production capacity in the province by 9 million mt in 2012. Meanwhile, in 2012 the province will eliminate 270,000 mt of backward or outdated coal production capacities through the closure of nine coal mines.
