In the first quarter of 2010, Beijing-based Chinese steel producer Shougang raised its output significantly, made a good start to the year. During the period in question, Shougang produced 420,300 mt of CR products, 15,300 mt more than planned, and up 44.33 percent or 129,100 mt year on year. In particular, the steelmaker produced 263,100 mt of CR products for special purposes, accounting for 62.6 percent of the total output, 36,400 mt more than planned and up 213,500 mt year on year; with a breakdown of 103,300 mt of auto sheet, 80,000 mt of sheet for home appliance application and 80,000 mt of sheet for other miscellaneous applications.
In March, the company produced 155,000 mt of CR products, constituting a new monthly historical high.
