According to the estimations issued by the Russian Special Steel and Alloys Consumers and Suppliers Association (Spetsstal), in the January-September period of this year the share of imports in the total
consumption of
stainless steel in
Russia was 64.8 percent, almost stable compared to 64.7 percent recorded in the same period of the previous year.
Compared to the first nine months of the previous year, in the first three quarters the share of imports in Russian
stainless steel flat steel
consumption increased to 78.2 percent over 71 percent, while the share of imports in total seamless tube
consumption rose to 55.8 percent over 49.7 percent. Meanwhile, the share of imports in Russian
stainless steel long steel
consumption decreased to 38.6 percent from 52.5 percent, the share of imports in wire
consumption was down to 66.9 percent from 68.8 percent, the share of imports in welded tube
consumption was down to 50.3 percent from 63.8 percent and the share of imports in slabs/ingots
consumption decreased to 34.9 percent from 48.7 percent.
