EU’s import quotas for some products about to be exhausted, especially for HRC

In the new quota period between July 1 and September 30, over 80 percent of the EU import quotas for some steel products have been used up, while the quotas for some products, especially the quota for non-alloy and alloy HRC allocated for "other countries", are about to be exhausted. In addition, the quota of 31,677 mt of stainless bars and light sections allocated to India and the quota of 6,896 mt of sheet piling quota allocated to China have been exhausted.

According to European Commission data, South Korea has exhausted 87.30 percent of its HRC quota of 186,030 mt, while 97.37 percent of the HRC quota of 933,743 mt allocated for other countries has been used up. 3,060 mt and 88,757 mt of the given product respectively imported from South Korea and other countries are waiting for custom clearance. Besides, the other countries have used 94.22 percent of their 5,140 mt quota of stainless bars and light sections.

Looking at China, 99.38 percent of the tin mill product quota of 110,725 mt, 83.04 percent of the other seamless pipes quota of 38,318 mt, 90.99 percent of the electrical sheet quota of 30,884 mt and 99.95 percent of the large welded tubes quota of 8,436 mt have been used up.

In addition, Turkey has used 89.43 percent of its 98,207 mt hollow section quota.
