Severstal’s scrap processing division increase sales by 40 percent in Q1

The Russian steel producer Severstal has announced that in the first quarter of the current year its scrap processing division increased its total sales by 40 percent year on year to 152,000 mt, with shipments to Severstal Cherepovets, the main steel producing facility of Severstal Russian Steel, registering significant growth. 

Accordingly, in Q1 2010, Severstal Vtormet, Severstal's main scrap processing subsidiary, increased its raw material deliveries to Severstal Cherepovets by 65 percent year on year to more than 100,000 mt. Currently, Severstal Cherepovets' consumption of scrap from Severstal subsidiaries exceeds 30 percent.
