The Russian steel producer Severstal has said that in 2010 its scrap processing division increased its total sales by 38 percent compared to 2009 to 1.09 million mt, with scrap shipments to Severstal Cherepovets, the main steel producing facility of Severstal Russian Steel, increasing by 1.5 times year on year.
Accordingly, the share of shipments of scrap processed by Severstal's scrap processing division in Severstal Cherepovets's total scrap purchases reached 33 percent in certain months of 2010 compared to an average of 23 percent in 2009.
