The Russian steel producer Severstal has announced that its pipe producing subsidiary Izhora Pipe Plant (Izhora) has delivered its first batch of pipes for the construction of the Sakhalin-Khabarovsk-Vladivostok gas pipeline of Russia's largest gas company Gazprom.

Accordingly, the first batch includes 20 pipes manufactured from Severstal Cherepovets' strip and will be used to prepare for the ceremonial start of the construction of the Sakhalin-Khabarovsk-Vladivostok gas pipeline, scheduled for June 26, 2009.

Under the scope of the order, Izhora is to supply more than 100,000 mt of pipes of 1,220 mm x 17.8 mm x 12,000 mm size to Gazprom. According to the schedule, deliveries of pipes in production volume will start in July.

The Sakhalin-Khabarovsk-Vladivostok gas pipeline is a part of the Eastern Gas Program implemented by Gazprom within the framework of the creation of an integrated gas production, transportation and supply system in Eastern Siberia and the Far East, taking into account potential gas exports to China and other Asian-Pacific countries. The commissioning of the pipeline is scheduled for the third quarter of 2011.
