Severstal to be sole Russian plate exporter in US

The Russian steelmaker Severstal will be the only Russian plate producer in the US market in the first half of 2007. According to Severstal's sales director Mr. D.Goroshkov, the company successfully completed all necessary verification stages for the supply of plates to the US market. Producers seeking to sell plate to the US market have to complete a questionnaire, which is then submitted to the US Department of Commerce for approval. The procedure is repeated every half year. For the first half of the 2007 period, of the Russian plate producers only Severstal successfully completed the application process for plate exports to the US.
