Russia’s coal output rises

Russian Fuel and Energy Dispatch Center said that Russia's coal production rose 4 percent year on year to 212.7 million metric tons in the first nine months of 2005. Coal production amounted to 26.8 million metric tons in September. The center also said that coal producers shipped 198.2 million metric tons of coal to consumers. Russia produced just over 283 million metric tons of coal in 2004.
