According to the data issued by Russian Railways (RZhD), in the first five months of 2010 steel product shipments on Russia's railways increased by 21.9 percent to about 30 million mt, shipments of iron and manganese ore went up by 14 percent to 41.3 million mt, shipments of ferrous scrap rose by 52.3 percent to 7.3 million mt, while shipments of coke increased by 55.8 percent to about 5.4 million mt, all compared to the same period last year.
In May this year, as compared to the same month last year, steel product shipments on Russia's railways increased by 26.3 percent, shipments of ferrous scrap went up by 68.4 percent, shipments of coke rose by 34.8 percent, and iron and manganese ore shipments increased by 8.4 percent.
In January-May, Russia's total railway shipments increased by 12.9 percent year on year to 483.4 million mt.
