Russian Railways: Steel product shipments up 14.2 percent in Jan-Sept

According to preliminary data issued by Russian Railways (RZhD), in the first nine months of 2010 steel product shipments on Russia's railways increased by 14.2 percent to 53.7 million mt, shipments of iron ore and manganese ore went up by 7.6 percent to 75.6 million mt, shipments of ferrous scrap rose by 31.9 percent to more than 15 million mt, while shipments of coke increased by 26 percent to more than 9.4 million mt, all compared to the same period last year.

In September this year, as compared to the same month last year, steel product shipments on Russia's railways increased by 2.9 percent, shipments of ferrous scrap went up by 12.1 percent, while shipments of coke raised by 2.1 percent.

In January-September 2010, total shipments on Russia's railways increased by 9.6 percent year on year to 895.1 million mt.
