According to the data released by the Russian Federation's Federal State Statistics Service, in the first nine months of 2007 the country registered a 0.6 percent rise in coal mining output and a three percent rise in iron ore mining output year on year. The respective figures in metric tons were 225 million and 78.3 million.
In addition, during the same period Russia produced 25.4 million metric tons of coke - up 4.5 percent, 38.4 million metric tons of pig iron - down 2.7 percent, 44.4 million metric tons of finished steel products - up 2.7 percent, and 6.7 million metric tons of steel pipes - up 15.4 percent, all compared to the corresponding period of last year.
