Russia issues Jan-Aug production results

According to the data released by the Russian Federation's Federal State Statistics Service, in the first eight months of 2007 the country registered a 0.5 percent rise in coal mining output and a three percent rise in iron ore mining output year on year. The respective figures in metric tons were 200 million and 69.6 million.

In addition, during the same period Russia produced 22.7 million metric tons of coke - up 5.3 percent, 34.2 million metric tons of pig iron - down three percent, 39.5 million metric tons of finished steel products - up 2.6 percent, and six million metric tons of steel pipes - up 17.6 percent, all compared to the corresponding period of last year.
