Rautaruukki to sign contract with VAI Automation

Market sources report that, Finnish steel producer Rautaruukki has signed a contract with VAI Automation, which is a subsidiary of Voestalpine Industrieanlagenbau, for redesignment of the automation system for hot strip mill at company's Raahe Works. VAI officials state that the commencement of the new project will be materialized after the modernization of the heavy-plate mill and roughing mill of Rautaruukki is completed. The installation, which is scheduled to start early in 2005, is expected to increase plant's availability and improve product tolerance.
