UK-based plantmaker Primetals Technologies has announced that it will modernize the six-strand continuous bloom caster of German steel producer Georgsmarienhütte GmbH (GMH) located at its main site in Georgsmarienhütte. The goals of the refurbishment are to equip the continuous caster to meet future market requirements, improve the plant's product quality, increase its productivity and availability, and allow greater flexibility in the use of production facilities. The modernization will be completed in the summer period of the current year.

Georgsmarienhütte GmbH (GMH) is one of Europe's leading suppliers of raw steel, steel bars, semi-finished products, and bright steel made of quality and engineering steels. GMH makes around 80 percent of its sales to the automotive industry and its suppliers. The company also supplies steels for chains, machine and hydraulic components.
