Italian plantmaker Danieli has announced that its subsidiary Danieli Centro Combustion will supply a new walking beam furnace for ArcelorMittal Hamburg GmbH, German division of global steel giant ArcelorMittal. During next year’s shutdown period, ArcelorMittal Hamburg’s existing mill will be connected to the new furnace. This upgrade will allow the company to increase the weight of coil to two metric tons and will improve both productivity and efficiency of the company’s special steel wire rod mill.

Danieli stated that this state-of-the-art furnace, coupled with the fully automatic control logic of the combustion system, will allow the most flexible reheating practices to match the production mix requirements for low and medium carbon, bearing, spring and cold heading steel and also will reduce environmental impact.
