Peruvian iron ore export prices increase in February

Peruvian iron ore export prices in the month of February rose 78.2 percent, year-on-year, according to data released by the country’s central bank, BCRP.
 
According to government data, the country’s iron ore export prices reached $40.1/mt in February 2017 compared to $22.5/mt in the same month of 2016.
 
Peruvian iron ore export prices also grew in the month-on-month comparison, from $39/mt in January this year.
 
Despite the increased price, exported volumes declined to 800,000 mt in February, from 1.7 million mt in January. Iron ore export volumes in February 2017 were stable when compared to the same month of 2016.
