Peruvian iron ore export prices in April rose 13.3 percent, year-on-year, to $39.2/mt, from $34.6/mt in April 2016, according to data released this week by the country’s central bank, BCRP.
Despite the year-on-year increase, Peruvian iron ore export prices in April declined 9.2 percent, month-on-month, from $43.2/mt in March to $39.2/mt in April.
Peruvian iron ore export prices have been on a declining trend since January, when the commodity’s export price reached $48.1/mt. February and March iron ore export prices dropped to $43.5/mt and $43.2/mt, respectively.
Peruvian iron ore export volumes in April totaled 1.5 million mt, up from 1.3 million mt in March, and up from 1 million mt in April 2016.
