Peruvian iron ore export prices decline in January

Peruvian iron ore export prices in January declined 17.9 percent, month on month, to $39/mt, according to data released by the country’s central bank, BCRP.
 
According to government data, Peruvian iron ore export prices rose 97 percent in January 2017, year-on-year, from $19.8/mt in January 2016.
 
January’s data indicate an increase from last year’s average iron ore export price, which was about $31.20/mt, with prices ranging as low as $19.8/mt in January 2016 to $47.5/mt in December 2016.
 
Iron ore export volumes totaled 1.7 million mt in January 2017, BCRP said, up from 600,000 mt in December.
