Ophelia’s impact on ports negligible

Despite blowing ashore and staying put for over 24 hours, a weak, low-level category one Hurricane Ophelia failed to do much damage to the Carolinas. The Port of Morehead City, North Carolina reports that there was a small amount of damage to the port office. Port agents will temporarily work out of another office until repairs can be affected. Port officials hope to restore phone and fax capabilities later today. There was no damage reported to any steel at the port. In related news, the Port of Wilmington, North Carolina is also open for business.
