OMK issues Jan-Sept production data for subsidiaries

The Russian pipe producing company United Metallurgical Company (OMK) has announced the production results for the first nine months of 2008 of its subsidiaries Tatarstan-based Almetyevsk Pipe Plant (ATZ), Urals area-based Chusovoy Steel Works (Chusovoy), Nizhni Novgorod-based  pipe producer Vyksa Steel Works (Vyksa) and Perm region-based Gubakha Coke.

Accordingly, during the first nine months of 2008, ATZ's total pipe production increased by 12 percent year on year to 114,931 mt, while its shipments amounted to 135,621 mt, showing a seven percent increase compared to the same period of last year.

During the given period, Chusovoy recorded a two percent increase in its finished steel output to 336,600 mt, and a three percent rise in its crude steel production to 389,100 mt, both compared to the same period of last year.

Vyksa's production of pipes during the first nine months of 2008 amounted to 1.1 million mt, including 545,786 mt of large diameter pipes.

During the period in question, Gubakha Coke produced 403,300 mt of coke and processed 47,800 mt of coal tar pitch, recording an increase of 20.6 percent and 21.1 percent respectively compared with the same period last year.
