OMK and Vyksa expect 30 percent increase in pipe output in 2010

The Russian steel and pipe producer United Metallurgical Company (OMK) and its Novgorod-based subsidiary Vyksa Steel Works (Vyksa) expect in 2010 to increase pipe production by 30 percent year on year, according to a statement from OMK.

In addition, OMK has also announced that Vyksa has won ‘the most dynamic exporter 2009' contest in the steel products category, organized for the domestic iron and steel sector by the Russian Federation's Ministry for Industry.

In 2008-2009, Vyksa increased its steel pipe exports by an average of 60 percent per year. OMK also noted that in 2008-2009 Vyksa was the only Russian pipe producer with positive dynamics in exports. In 2008, the plant increased its steel pipe exports by 56 percent to 315,300 mt compared to 2007, while in 2009 it raised its exports by 61 percent to 507,700 mt compared to 2008.
