NBS: Local Chinese rebar prices down 0.2 percent in mid-February

In mid-February (February 11-20) this year, the average price in China of 16-25 mm HRB 400 rebar decreased by RMB 8/mt ($1.15/mt) or 0.2 percent to RMB 4119.4/mt ($592/mt), compared to prices in early February (February 1-10), as announced by China’s National Bureau of Statistics on February 24.

In the given period, the average prices of wire rod and seamless steel pipes decreased by 0.3 percent and 0.7 percent, respectively, though the average prices of medium plate and hot rolled coil (HRC) rose by 0.2 percent and 0.6 percent, respectively, while the average price of angles remained stable, all compared to early February.
