Murchison’s iron ore output improves in Q2 over Q1
The Australian iron ore exploration company Murchison Metals Ltd (Murchison) announced on July 28 that its iron ore output volume in the second quarter of the current year amounted to 269,992 mt, with a significant increase on the 28,841 mt of ore mined in the previous quarter, reflecting the return to normal operating levels after the extreme weather which hit the company’s operations in the first quarter. Murchisson said that its shipments in the second quarter consisted of seven vessels totalling 429,356 mt, of which 242,014 mt consisted of direct shipping lump ore, with 187,342 mt of direct shipping fines. Total shipments were higher than the 299,778 mt shipped in the first quarter, reflecting the resumption of normal operations.
