The Australian iron ore exploration company Murchison Metals Ltd (Murchison) has announced that the Western Australian Environment Minister, Bill Marmion, has approved the Jack Hills Expansion Project.

The project in question had also been granted approval by Western Australia's Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) in August 2011.

As SteelOrbis previously reported, Murchison has agreed to sell all of its interests in Crosslands Resources Ltd and the Oakajee Port and Rail project to Mitsubishi Development Pty Ltd, a subsidiary of Japan's Mitsubishi Corporation, for a cash consideration of A$325 million.
