The Russian steel producer Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) has announced that it has delivered to the Russian steel and pipe producer United Metallurgical Company (OMK) 500,000 mt of steel plates from its plate rolling mill 5000. MMK has been producing wide steel plates for OMK's Novgorod-based steel pipe producer Vyksa Steel Works (Vyksa) since November 2009. The plates are used to produce large diameter steel pipes for the construction of oil and gas trunk pipelines.

"OMK is a strategic partner of MMK, and one of the main consumers of plates from the mill 5000," MMK chairman Victor Rashnikov said, noting that OMK has been buying the mill's plate since its commissioning (July 2009).
